Families come in absolutely all shapes and sizes these days, and single parents exist for a variety of reasons, whether by choice or due to circumstances. Whatever the reason you become a single parent, the Triangle is full of places to turn for help and support. Meetup groups are great because they offer the chance to meet other people in similar situations and have fun at the same time. Meetups are always held in public places and offer something fun for both parents and kids. That’s why no matter how or why you became a single parent, Capital Area Single Parents (formerly Capital Area PWP…a chapter of Parents without Partners, Inc.) is for you. Capital Area Single Parents is a group of newly separated, divorced, widowed, adoptive, and remarried parents offering mutual support and social functions focused on life stages of single parents and their children.
THE IDEAL: “Children thrive with the active involvement of both parents. Children and parents should be encouraged to spend substantial time with each other regardless of the parents’ present marital status. We recognize that absent issues of abuse, neglect or abandonment, social and government policy must be structured in such a way as to promote and maximize the opportunity of all parents to contribute to the social, emotional, intellectual, physical, moral and spiritual development of their children.
WELCOME! Moms Under 35 is a group for mommies and babies between the ages of NB-5 years old in the Triangle area. MU35 has something for everyone — working moms, stay-at-home moms, mothers of multiples, married moms, single moms — you name it, this is THIS group. WE get together for things such as playdates, consignment shopping, moms night out, couples night out — there is something for everyone. We are a great group for meeting other local moms and babies, and making some new friends—not only for the babies, but also for us mommies.
